Senior Health Engineer
Vermont Department of Health This position performs work at a senior professional level to educate, advise on and enforce Vermont asbestos and lead control regulations. These regulations ensure safe work practices in the building industry to protect the public from exposure to lead and asbestos hazards. This is a dynamic position that includes both desk and field work with a variety of responsibilities and the opportunity to collaborate with other State and local officials and professionals in the building industry. Activities include but are not limited to providing education and compliance assistance to contractors about health-protective work practices and requirements, investigating possible regulatory noncompliance, building and strategizing on enforcement cases, reviewing abatement permit applications, inspecting permitted demolition and renovation worksites, and auditing asbestos and lead discipline training courses. This position also participates in the development of program regulations, policies, and procedures to protect public health. Necessary training and licensing can be obtained on the job for the right candidate. Overnight and out-of-state training may be required for certain training opportunities.
